Lecture: "Historical Heritage. Amur Expedition of 1849–1855 "

At the lecture, attendees will learn about the historic event — the Amur expedition, its results, including the consolidation of the vast territories of the Far East, including Sakhalin Island, by Russia, the difficulties and hardships encountered by the expedition members in the exploration of Sakhalin, the opening of the first military posts, as well as on G.I. Nevelskoys comrades.

Family Learning Program at the Museum. Class They Live in the Sea.

Family Learning Program at the Museum is a weekend program for family activities, which includes excursions, lectures, classes, games for children and their parents.
On the occasion of the World Marine Mammal Protection Day (19 February), it will be possible to learn about seals, sea otters, whales and other animals that live in the Sea of Okhotsk, which washes Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands. In the end, there will be a master class KITENOK (Whale Calf) (paper craft).

Saturday Movie Show at the Museum

As part of the weekend program, short films about Sakhalin made by the crew of the TV program «I Want to Know!» and the First Channel together with Mikhail Shirvindt, TV host, will be shown on TV. The films tell about oysters that live in Lake Busse, traditional way of life and cuisine of the Nivkhs, burdock root recipes, Sakhalin designers suits.

Family Learning Program at the Museum is a weekend program for family activities, which includes excursions, lectures, classes, games for children and their parents.
The class is devoted to the Birthday of the Domovoy (Brownie) (February 10). Attendees will become aware of the Slavic house spirit, the mythological master of the house and its patron. Domovoy helps family members to live in harmony, protects the health of family members and animals, improve the fertility of the soil. At the end of the program, creative class Surprise from Domovoy will be held.

The lecture on Active Volcanoes of the Sakhalin Region is delivered by Rafael Vladimirovich Zharkov, PhD in Geography, Leading Researcher of the IMGiG FEB RAS.
The lecture series on Natural History of Sakhalin and the Kurile Islands have been running at the Museum since 2003. The Museum researchers and scientists of other research institutions of the Sakhalin region are actively engaged in its work. These are popular science lectures. The primary audience: adults, college and university students, high school students.
Admission to the lecture is free for Museum ticket holders.
