August 17, 2017, in the Sakhalin Regional Museum was opened the exhibition «Miners Glory». The exhibition is timed to the 70th anniversary of the Miners Day and the 295th anniversary of coal mining in Russia.
Dmitry Vladimirovich Zaitsev, Minister of Housing and Utilities of the Sakhalin Region and Konstantin Pavlovich Goncharov, Advisor to the Ministry of Culture and Archives of the Sakhalin Region were the first to deliver their welcome speeches to guests.
Nikolai Arkhipovich Gogolin and Alexei Mikhailovich Ponomarev veterans of the coal industry Ц were the guests of honor at the opening of the exhibition. They also delivered welcome speeches.
Nikolai Arkhipovich Gogolin is the full knight of the breastplate «Miners Glory» and has the Silver Medal of the Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy. In 1947, after graduation of the Souchan Mining College (the first postwar graduation, N. Gogolin, at the age of 19, came to Sakhalin and worked all his life in Sakhalin coal mines.
Alexei Mikhailovich Ponomarev full cavalier of the Miners Glory award, the best inspector of the USSR Gosgortechnadzor. He worked in Mgachi and Makaryevka mines in the Aleksandrovsk-Sakhalinsk area, moved up the career ladder starting from the Mine Surveyor in the mine and ending as the Sakhalinugol Chief Surveyor.
The closing speech was delivered by V. V. Shcheglov, Acting Museum Director.
The Sakhalin Regional Museum expresses its gratitude to the Sakhalin coal mining companies which provided their assistance in the preparation of the exhibition, and also thanks the East Mining Company Limited, Sponsor of the exhibition for its contribution in the replenishment of the Museum collection with valuable items.
