Results of Sociological Survey

In July-August, the Sakhalin Regional Museum conducted a sociological survey to find out what residents and guests of our city think about museum activities.
Its results showed that the most popular among visitors are the permanent expositions (32% of those surveyed), exhibitions (25%) and thematic excursions (24%).
Survey revealed that the most visited expositions were — Flora and Fauna (25%), Ancient Cultures. Indigenous peoples (20%), Geologic History of Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands (16%).
The Survey shows that in general, respondents learn about the events at the museum from friends and acquaintances (37%), as well as on the museum’s website: (18%). Print publications, however, play a small role in the museum announcements; only 5% of the respondents learn about events from newspapers. 54% of the survey participants visited the museum with an excursion, and they liked it. The rest of the survey respondents visited the museum independently.
Also the guests of the museum expressed their opinion about the work of the museum. They suggest introducing an audio guide service, adding labels in English, putting banquettes in halls and improving the sale of souvenirs. All proposals will be taken into account in order to improve the work of the museum.
We thank everyone who took part in the survey!
