I Can See You

On October 12, an event «I Can See You», dedicated to the World Sight Day, was held at the Sakhalin Regional Museum within the framework of the museum project «Health Days at the Museum».
This annual event, which has already become traditional, is held to draw public attention to the problems associated with visual impairment.
Lecture on preventing eye diseases was given by Svetlana Desenovna Kan, optometrist at the Sakhalin Regional Center for Medical Prevention.
Svetlana Desenovna described how high blood pressure can damage the vessels supplying blood to the eye. The participants of the meeting learned about the causes, signs and factors contributing to the development of severe eye disease such as retinopathy. During the lecture, the issues on timely prevention and treatment of eye diseases were addressed. The attendances received exhaustive and detailed answers to their questions concerning vision problems.
Besides, all comers could undergo a free screening for detection of cardiovascular disease.
