The Sakhalin Regional Museum published new scientific papers materials of the international scientific conference «From Century to Century …», dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the opening of the first museum on Sakhalin. The conference was held from September 12 to 17, 2016 in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and Aleksandrovsk-Sakhalinsk. The event was organized by the Sakhalin Regional Museum, the Sakhalin Regional Art Museum, the Literary and Art Museum in honour of A.P. Chekhov’s book «The Island of Sakhalin», Historical and Literary Museum "A.P. Chekhov and Sakhalin "(Alexandrovsk-Sakhalinsk), the Association of Museums of the Sakhalin region. Additional financial support was provided by Exxon Neftegas Limited, operator of the Sakhalin-1 project.
The Conference was attended by 70 researchers from Japan and China, the Netherlands and Poland, Moscow and St. Petersburg, Khabarovsk, Nikolayevsk-on-Amur and Vladivostok, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and municipalities of Sakhalin Region. The participants of the conference worked in 5 sections: «Cultural Heritage of Indigenous Peoples of Siberia and the Russian Far East. The Contribution of Ethnographic Scientists to the Preservation of Languages and Cultures,» «Studies in Natural Sciences Conducted in the Sakhalin Region. Regional Environmental Problems», "Historical and Literary Regional Studies. Preservation of Historical and Cultural Heritage, «Museum Pedagogy. Modern Directions of Socialization in Museum Activities». September 1516, a visiting session of the Section «Large and Small Museums: Theory and Practice of Development» and the Round Table «Museum: the Territory of Great Opportunities» was held in the Historical and Literary Museum "A.P. Chekhov and Sakhalin " in the city of Alexandrovsk-Sakhalinsk. .
Materials are intended for a general audience interested in nature, archeology, history and culture of the indigenous peoples of the Russian Far East, modern trends in museum activities, theory and practice of development.
