On December 22, the Sakhalin Regional Museum opened the Borodino-Glory of Russia exhibition from the collections of the State Borodino War and History Museum and Reserve (Moscow Region, village of Borodino), dedicated to the 205th anniversary of the Battle of Borodino battle.
Throughout a year negotiations were held to provide the exhibition. Today the rare items found in the field of the battle are on display at the exhibition in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk where residents and guests of the Island capital can see them.
Honorary guests, employees and visitors of the museum have attended the opening of the exhibition. Welcoming speeches were given by:
- Viktor Vladislavovich Shcheglov, Sakhalin Regional Museum Deputy Director for Research and Development,
- Elena Vasilievna Semenishcheva, Head of the Scientific Exhibitions and Show Rooms of the Borodino Museum.
All speakers noted the high importance of the exhibition in the patriotic education of Sakhalin youth.
The first tour through the exhibition was held by its curator, Elena Semenisheva, Head of the Scientific Exhibitions and Show Rooms of the Borodino Museum. She responded to numerous questions asked by visitors about the content of the exhibition.
The exhibition features sculptures and graphic works of 19th and modern artists, finds from the battlefield and many other interesting items. At the exhibition are displayed samples of uniforms, equipment and weapons. Borodino Glory of Russia exhibition has become the first joint project of the Borodino Museum and the Sakhalin Regional Museum.
The Sakhalin Regional Museum express gratitude to the State Borodino War and History Museum and Reserve for the exposition and looked forward for continued mutual cooperation.
