On January 24 at 3:00 p.m. a lecture «Ecological and Biological Researches Conducted by the IMGG FEB RAS: Achievements, Main Scientific Results and Perspectives for Development» will be given at the Sakhalin Regional Museum. The lecture will be delivered by Anna Vladimirovna Kopanina, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Deputy Director for Research, IMGG, FEB RAS.
At the lecture, attendees will learn about the main stages of the formation of academic biological and ecological studies of Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands during the establishment and development of the Sakhalin region. Anna Vladimirovna will inform the audience about fundamental and applied researches in biological sciences which have been conducted since 1946 by the Sakhalin Scientific and Research Facilities of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. In 1985, the institution was renamed as the Institute of Marine Geology and Geophysics. The name was later changed to the Institute of Marine Geology and Geophysics of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
