Sakhalin Region Museum: The Amur Expedition

The Sakhalin Regional Museum invites guests and residents of the city to attend lectures «Historical Heritage. The Amur Expedition of 1849–1855». The lecture is delivered by Evgenia Aleksandrovna Pashentseva, Head of History Department, Sakhalin Regional Museum. The attendees will learn about the significant geopolitical event — the Amur expedition, its results, including the consolidation of the vast territories of the Far East and Sakhalin Island as well as confirmation of Russia’s rights over the above areas, the difficulties and hardships encountered by the participants of the expedition during the exploration of Sakhalin, the establishment of the first military posts and about Gennady Ivanovich Nevelsky’s comrades. Moreover, the lecture will give you better idea of the practical importance and historical significance of this expedition. The lecture will be available on request throughout February.
