On March 27, 2018, Sakurai Tatsumi, Director of the Representative Office of the Hokkaido Governorate in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk paid a farewell visit to Sakhalin Regional Museum. Mr. Sakurai Tatsumi is leaving to take up a new assignment as the Director of the International Department of the Hokkaido Governorate in Sapporo, Japan.
The purpose of the visit is to thank Director Yu. Yu. Alin and the museum staff for their cooperation. In his speech, the guest expressed gratitude to the Museum for participation in joint activities in the period over three years for the benefit of mutual cooperation between Sakhalin and Hokkaido. In his response, the Yu. Yu. Alin, Director of the Museum, noted that the Sakhalin Regional Museum and Hokkaido scientific institutions have established long-term relations. Scientific and cultural relations as well as mutual cooperation will become stronger and more fruitful for the two countries in the future. In conclusion, Yu. Alin added that he would be pleased to meet with his successor Mr. Sato as the Director of the Hokkaido Governorship Representative Office in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. and hoped that the scientific exchanges between Sakhalin and Hokkaido would continue, and the cultural cooperation between Russia and Japan would benefit the two states.
