Thanks to all those who were saved by the dogs!
Thanks to all, for the Memory of their Victories!
For all who are alive, there is no better friend than dogs,
They left their marvelous marks in the hearts of people!
April 25, 2018, on the eve of the 73rd anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, pupils of the 2 «B» Form of school No. 13 in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, attended a lecture «Four-Legged Friends in the Great Patriotic War of 1941- 1945» which was delivered in the Lecture Room of the Sakhalin Regional Museum.
The younger listeners learned that in that terrible period of the history of our country courage, bravery, friendship, mutual assistance, compassion and devotion were inherent not only to people, but also to dogs.
During the Great Patriotic War, more than six thousand dogs of different breeds served in the army. They performed important tasks. The Red Cross dogs were trained to seek out a wounded soldier and help him as they were equipped with medical kits. Messenger dogs were taught to deliver important messages in battle. Mine detection dogs have defused more than 4 million mines and landmines. Sled dogs transported about 3,500 tons of ammunition and more than 700,000 wounded soldiers from the battlefield.
Although more than 70 years have passed since the military events, the feat of dogs and the way they fought together with the soldiers did not leave young visitors indifferent. The children shared their impressions of the lecture and told about their four-legged friends.
