ROADS TO VICTORY

August 31 at 4:00 pm, the Sakhalin Regional Museum opens the Roads to Victory exhibition from the collections of the State Historical Archive of the Sakhalin Region and the Sakhalin Regional Museum, dedicated to the 73rd anniversary of the end of the Second World War, 1939–1945.
The exhibition presents 39 photographs of Grigory Petrovich Sokolov, a participant in the war with militaristic Japan.
In August 1945, G. P. Sokolov, a photographer of the Political Department of the 79th Rifle Division, which was a part of the 56th Rifle Corps of the 16th Army of the 2nd Far Eastern Front and participated in the liberation of Southern Sakhalin. The photos are made in combat conditions and show various subjects.
A series of photographs by Grigory Petrovich Sokolov is a documentary evidence of a soldier-liberator who went down the roads of war.
