October 13, 2018 Sakhalin Regional Museum of Local Lore closed the season of onsite guided tours.
On the way to Korsakov, the sightseers were told about the history of street names in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. Most of the participants have learned something new for themselves.
The first stop on our tour was the observation deck in the city of Korsakov. There is a monument to the Korean people, who were brought to Sakhalin when the Japanese were in «possession» of the Sakhalin region.
The next stop of the tour was Belokamennaya-chasi the place where the Ainu people lived and where excavations were later carried out by the Sakhalin Regional Museum specialists. Guides told interesting facts about the life of the Ainu including the excavations conducted in that area, and also showed the objects that were found during the excavation period. In addition, sightseers could admire the beauty of nature and see with their own eyes the people climbing mountains.
Then they visited the Blue Lakes, which have just another name as the Carerny (Quarry) Lakes. The beauty of the lakes impressed us. It turns out the aforesaid lakes contain germanium which gives water blue color.
The final point of the route was the maral farm a place where red deer known as morals are raised. When we arrived at the farm, we saw how red deer were eating their food and we had a chance to see these wonderful animals very, very close.
Everyone really enjoyed the tour and tourists who took part in onsite tours asked not to cancel sightseeing routes.
