Lecture Series on Natural History of Sakhalin and the Kurile Islands

On January 30, lecture on Oceanological and Climatic Characteristics of the Sakhalin-Kuril Region was delivered by Georgy Vladimirovich Shevchenko, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical sciences, Head of the Tsunami Laboratory of the Institute of Marine Geology and Geophysics of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.


Georgy Vladimirovich told the students of the Sakhalin College of Service in detail about the multifaceted concept of climate, about the influence of the seas and their currents on Sakhalin and the Kurile Islands, explained how the cloud belt is formed, and then showed the airflow map. The audience was actively involved in the discussion during the lecture. At the end of the meeting questions were asked and answers were given.
