Discussion on Mud Volcanoes at the Sakhalin Regional Museum

Lecture on the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Mud Volcano: Specifics of the Development of Plant Communities of Mud-Volcanic Landscapes was given by Inna Ivanovna Vlasova, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Researcher, Institute of Marine Geology and Geophysics, Far East Branch, Russian Academy of Sciences on February 27 at 1:00 p. m. at the Sakhalin Regional Museum.


Inna Ivanovna provided detailed information about the influence of mud volcanoes on surrounding vegetation. A series of slides was shown to illustrate some facts from previous research studies.

Second-year students of the Sakhalin College of Service learned about the importance of the study of mud volcanoes, as well as about the research techniques. The audience actively participated and asked questions, and the lecturer enjoyed answering them.
