On April 3, 2019, Alexander Vitalievich Vertyankin, Senior Researcher of the Natural Sciences Department of the Sakhalin Regional Museum, shared the most current information available on the life of island amphibians and reptiles with the visitors of the museum.
But before presenting the results of the latest research expeditions, the lecturer made a brief excursion into the history, telling about the fate of the scientific works on the study of Sakhalin cold-blooded animals of the last century. The participants didn’t notice how they «moved» to the present century and learned that some multi-colored Sakhalin amphibians can easily climb trees, others can be frozen until they are 90 years old.
"And if you think that you saw a grass snake in the vicinity of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, you are mistaken! The only species of snakes living on Sakhalin is vipers! "- Alexander Vitalyevich surprised the public.
Unique shots, supplemented by copyright video, encouraged guests to smile and melt away, perceiving information on such a seemingly «slippery» topic.
Dear friends! You can always learn more about the life of Sakhalin amphibians and reptiles by visiting informative and interesting excursions in the Sakhalin Regional Museum!
