The annual International Exhibition and Fair «Treasures of the North. Craftsmen and Artists of Russia – 2019», was held in Sokolniki Exhibition and Convention Center (Moscow) from April 30 to May 4, 2019. 28 northern regions of the Russian Federation displayed at their stands information about their small motherland and products of decorative and applied art of indigenous peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East, Russia.
Delegations in national costumes presented their native land with concerts, conducted master classes and treated visitors of Sokolniki center at many exhibition areas.
The honor of the Sakhalin Region was defended by culinary masters of national dishes and masters of decorative and applied arts, by the Kekh (Seagull) Nivkh folk ensemble from the village of Chir-Unvd, Tymovsk District and duet of the People of Ykh-Myth Ethnocultural Center, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
As part of the Exhibition and Fair activities, Scientific and Practical Conference on Languages and Culture of Indigenous Minorities of the North, Siberia and the Far East of the Russian Federation: Preservation and Development Strategy was held. More than 50 reports on the preservation of the language and cultural heritage of the peoples of the North and solutions addressing the urgent issues were made in two conference sections. At the conference, the island region was represented by three speakers, including Olga Fedorovna Solovyova, Researcher of the Sakhalin Regional Museum.
The exposition of the Sakhalin region won the Grand Prix of the exhibition in the nomination «The Best Regional Exposition», as well as numerous awards and diplomas.
