The book basis on documentary materials and memories of eyewitness. Reconstructed unknown pages of Sakhalin history and Soviet-Japanese relationship in 1920–1940. In the center of described event — D. P. Vinokurov Sakhalin tradesman. And also native population and Russian emigrants, who appeared for different reasons to Karafuto in 1905–1945. Japanese part of Sakhalin Island. In the book, unique photographs from Russian and Japanese archives, private collection of that time are used.
